The app, titled “poetisiert euch!”, pushes a poem to iPhone and iPad users daily at 9 a.m., offering a mix of historic and contemporary German-language verses as well as international poetry in translation.
Readers can tap a poem to open a direct link to the relevant poetry collection in the Verlagshaus Berlin online shop, where the volume can be ordered.
Among the featured poets are Giovanni Pontano, Konstantínos Kaváfis, Max Czollek, Galina Rymbu, Kevin Junk, Mikael Vogel, Anna Julian Mendlik and Alexander Graeff.
Publisher Andrea Schmidt said the app is meant to bring poetry into everyday moments such as train rides or coffee breaks and to spark curiosity about full‑length collections.
The free, no‑login app is currently available in the Apple App Store, with an Android version announced for the future. The publisher, founded in 2005 and led by Jo Frank, Andrea Schmidt and Tillmann Severin, also plans to add audio recordings of authors and translators reading their own poems.
