1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of The Reader Times website, its articles, archives, newsletters, reader features and related digital services. By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Editorial purpose
The Reader Times publishes niche editorial coverage of books, authors, publishing, bookshops, rights and translation, fairs and events, technology and artificial intelligence, printing and production, and related cultural or industry matters. Articles may include original reporting, analysis, interviews, commentary, summaries of third-party reporting, press material and clearly identified editorial illustrations.
Editorial content is provided for information and journalistic purposes. It is not legal, financial, investment, medical or other professional advice.
3. Accuracy, corrections and updates
We aim to publish accurate, fair and properly attributed information. News develops and information can change. We may correct, update, clarify, expand, archive or remove material where editorially appropriate. Requests for correction or clarification may be submitted through Contact.
4. Intellectual property and branding
Unless otherwise stated, The Reader Times name, masthead, site design, original text, graphics, editorial presentation, databases and original creative material are protected by applicable intellectual-property law and belong to the publisher or its licensors. Third-party names, trademarks, photographs, documents, quotations and other materials remain the property of their respective owners.
Nothing on the site grants a licence to use The Reader Times or MEDIA-SOCIETY.COM branding, logos or trade dress without prior written permission.
5. Permitted reading, linking and quotation
You may read publicly available pages, link to them and share their URLs. Reasonable quotation for criticism, review, reporting, research or other lawful purposes is permitted when applicable law allows it and appropriate attribution is given. Reproduction of complete articles, substantial extracts, image collections, databases or site design requires prior permission unless a statutory exception applies.
6. Automated access, scraping and AI use
Systematic scraping, bulk extraction, mirroring, republication, dataset creation, automated harvesting, commercial text-and-data mining, or use of substantial site content to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning or generative-AI systems requires prior written permission except where applicable law expressly provides otherwise. Technical access rules such as robots directives do not by themselves grant a copyright or database licence.
7. Sources, external links and third-party services
Articles may credit or link to original publishers, institutions, authors, organisations or other sources. External links are provided for context and convenience. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their availability, security, accuracy, content or privacy practices.
8. Reader features and saved articles
Some reader features operate locally in your browser. For example, the “Save” function may store a list of saved articles in browser storage rather than creating a server-side user account. Clearing browser data may remove those saved items.
9. Newsletter and Google reader services
Newsletter sign-up and other reader features may be provided through Google Reader Revenue Manager or another service provider. If you choose to subscribe, the information you submit is used to administer the requested service in accordance with the applicable privacy notice and provider terms.
10. User communications and submissions
If you contact us, send a correction, pitch, contribution, image or other material, you confirm that you are entitled to submit it and that doing so does not unlawfully infringe third-party rights. Submission does not guarantee publication or create an obligation to commission, publish or retain material unless separately agreed.
11. Site availability and security
We may modify, suspend or discontinue parts of the site for editorial, technical, security or operational reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. You must not attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, interfere with the site, circumvent security measures or use the service unlawfully.
12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided without guarantees beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded. The publisher is not responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on general editorial information, third-party services, external links or events outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer or other statutory rights.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to mandatory rights that may apply to you under the law of your place of residence. Where legally permitted, disputes concerning these Terms are subject to the competent courts in Spain.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms when the publication, services, technology or legal requirements change. The version displayed on this page is the current version. Material changes may be highlighted where appropriate.
