The new shop is situated at Strandstraße 138 in the seaside district of Niendorf/Ostsee, offering locals a dedicated space for literature and leisure.
At 43 years old, Magens left her role as a university administrator in Lübeck to realise a 15‑year‑old ambition of owning a bookshop, describing the location as a perfect fit for her vision.
The 50 square‑metre interior presents a deliberately chosen assortment that includes fiction, selected authors, cookbooks focused on gluten‑free nutrition, children’s titles and regional Baltic‑sea crime novels, while the adjoining café serves only gluten‑free fare.
Magens prepared the launch herself, handling store layout, décor, printed flyers, local posters, an Instagram profile and a dedicated website. She also consulted online resources such as Libri and eBuch for guidance.
The official opening ceremony took place on 1 November, and Magens will operate the café alone initially, with seasonal staff added as needed.
