The change of ownership was announced by Buchhaus Luthy, a Solothurn‑based retailer, which purchased the equity held by the previous shareholders of the Zurich bookshop.
According to the announcement, the acquisition will not alter the shop’s branding; the Buchhandlung am Hottingerplatz will remain open under its current name.
The transition is scheduled for 1 November, aligning with the start of the new fiscal quarter for the business.
Buchhaus Luthy highlighted its intention to maintain the store’s role as a local literary hub in the Hottingerplatz neighbourhood.
