WIPO launched CLIP in 2023 to fill a knowledge gap for creators, helping them understand and manage their intellectual property rights. The platform, available in seven major languages, uses content written by creators for creators and is free to access.
Initially focused on musicians, CLIP has now expanded to visual artists. WIPO Director General Daren Tang said that many creators believe talent alone guarantees success, overlooking the business side of creation. “This is where CLIP comes in,” Tang added, noting the platform covers all aspects of the modern creative ecosystem, including copyright.
The initiative was developed in close consultation with the WIPO for Creators Advisory Board, which includes the International Publishers Association and other industry partners worldwide. Writers are expected to be the next group supported by CLIP.
Visual artists can access the new content free of charge on the CLIP online platform at https://goclip.org/en/visualarts.
