The German Book Prize 2026 was presented to author Shida Bazyar for her work “Die Lücken”, translated as “Omissions”.
The novel, released by the publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch, secured the top honour in the competition.
The award, announced on 5 October 2026, recognises outstanding German-language fiction published in the preceding year.
Bazyar joins the list of previous laureates who have been celebrated for literary excellence in the German-speaking world.
