German author Betty Boras was announced as the winner of the Anna‑Haag Prize 2026 for her debut novel “Das schönste aller Leben”.

The jury highlighted Boras’s “clear, unadorned language, narrative skill in complex scenes and surprising dialogues that bring characters together rather than divide them”, noting the work’s focus on recovery rather than lingering conflict.

The prize, endowed with €10,000, has been publicly awarded since 2023 by the Förderkreis der Schriftsteller:innen in Baden‑Württemberg e.V. in memory of politician, pacifist and women’s rights activist Anna Haag (1888‑1982).

The award ceremony is scheduled for 8 December 2026 at 19:00 in the Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart.
