Literary Hub disclosed that the senior editor will join the project before its spring 2027 launch and will work with senior staff to define the vertical’s editorial voice, standards and workflows.
The role involves overseeing a three‑cadence editorial calendar—daily news‑linked features, weekly round‑ups and monthly or seasonal previews such as best‑of lists, back‑to‑school guides and year‑end recommendations.
Key duties include commissioning pieces from authors, critics, booksellers, librarians and academics; writing and editing articles, reviews and newsletters; managing assistant editors, freelancers and the budget; and coordinating cross‑promotion with Lit Hub’s sister sites CrimeReads and Book Marks.
Candidates must have at least four years of experience in book publishing or book media, online media experience, and some management of people or freelancers. Required skills cover wide‑ranging reading judgment, familiarity with online book culture, CMS and newsletter platforms, audience development, digital marketing, social media and SEO.
The position is based in New York City but fully remote, offers a salary of $72‑75 k with health benefits, and starts on 1 December 2026. Applications, including a résumé and three brief pitches for timely book lists, are due by 6 November 2026 at jobs@lithub.com.
