During the 2026 edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the LatAm Stage was incorporated into the official programme, marking a milestone for Latin‑American representation at the event. The stage presented the Brazilian e‑book and audiobook platform Skeelo, and received backing from Chile’s Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MVB LATAM and the fair’s organisers.
More than a hundred publishing professionals attended the stage’s sessions, which ran from 7 to 9 October. Topics covered included copyright negotiations, international distribution, translation, new digital formats, illustrated book publishing and the impact of artificial intelligence on the editorial chain.
From the afternoon of Friday through Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, authors, artists and illustrators performed and shared their work with visitors from around the world, highlighting themes such as indigenous literature, migration, identity, gender, poetry, resistance, comics and humour.
The LatAm Stage’s official status follows a decade of independent cultural initiatives in Germany, beginning with Rohkomm’s 2017 Forum of Latin‑American Authors and Publishers, the 2019 launch of the first independent LatAm Stage, and the 2020‑21 digital transition that produced the Frankfurt Latin‑American Authors Fair.
With the return of in‑person events in 2022 and collaboration with Frankfurt’s Latin‑American Week, the stage’s continued development culminated in its 2026 inclusion, underscoring the importance of collaborative innovation in expanding Latin‑American presence on the global book stage.
